The Department of Mathematics has established four undergraduate awards to recognize excellence in our students.

The Edward J. Finan Memorial Award in Mathematics has been awarded since 1964. It honors a graduating senior who has been outstanding in the study of mathematics in his/her baccalaureate program.

The Euphemia Lofton Haynes Award was established in 2018. It honors a junior mathematics major who has demonstrated excellence and promise in his/her study of mathematics.

The Chair's Award for Service to the Department and Academic Excellence was established in 2021. It recognizes a mathematics major who has made a meaningful contribution to the department while maintaining high academic performance. 

The Chair's Award for Excellence in Research was established in 2021. It recognizes a mathematics major who has engaged in significant and successful mathematics research as an undergraduate.

The Chair's Award for Promising Sophomore was established in 2024. It recognizes a sophomore mathematics major who shows promise and academic excellence.

The Chair's Award for Promising Freshman was established in 2024. It recognizes a freshman mathematics major who shows promise and academic excellence.
