The Department of Mathematics and Statistics has established six undergraduate awards to recognize excellence in our students.

The Edward J. Finan Memorial Award in Mathematics has been awarded since 1964 and honors graduating mathematics majors who have excelled in mathematics and demonstrated overall academic distinction throughout their undergraduate studies. 

The Euphemia Lofton Haynes Award was established in 2018 and honors junior mathematics majors who have shown exceptional academic achievement and potential in mathematics.

The Chair's Award for Service to the Department and Academic Excellence was established in 2021 and recognizes mathematics majors who have made meaningful contributions to the department while maintaining high academic performance. 

The Chair's Award for Excellence in Research was established in 2021 and recognizes mathematics majors who have conducted meaningful and successful research in mathematics.

The Chair's Award for Promising Sophomore was established in 2024 and recognizes sophomore mathematics majors who show promise in mathematics and excel academically.

The Chair's Award for Promising Freshman was established in 2024 and recognizes freshman mathematics majors who show promise in mathematics and excel academically.
